Hans (Johan II)

King 1497-1501.

Born 1455. Parents: King Kristian I of Denmark, Norway and Sweden and Dorotea of Brandenburg. In Sweden, King Hans was called Johan II.

Heir to the Danish throne in 1455, heir to the Swedish and Norwegian thrones in 1458. King of Denmark and Norway 3 of February 1483; crowned in Copenhagen 18 of May and in Trondheim 20 of July 1483. King of Sweden 18 of October 1497; crowned in Stockholm 26 of November 1497. Deposed as King of Sweden in August 1501. Died 20 of February 1513 in Ålborg.

Married 6 of September 1478 in Copenhagen to Kristina of Saxony (1461-1521); daughter of Ernst, Elector of Saxony, and Elisabet of Bavaria. Children: Kristian II, Franciscus (1497-1511), Elisabet (1485-1555).

After Hans had been deposed, Sten Sture was once again elected Lord Protector.
